Loot River

Loot River is what I would describe as a "puzzle-platformer action roguelike". It has a very cool and creative blend of styles and genres. I joined this project late in development to do additional programming work. Initially I worked on UI, making the main menu screen and pause menu, including settings and controller rebinding screens, as well as some in-game menus.

I also wrote all the platform service code, including things like the saving system, localization system, achievements, user management, leaderboards, and daily runs. These work across Steam, Xbox One, and Windows Gamepass.

I did tons of optimization, halving the frame time in some scenes and speeding up the loading (both startup and in-game) as much as 5x.

I created some developer tools on demand including a build config tool and a save editor, and worked on a number of gameplay features and AI.

I had a really great time working with Straka Studio on this project and was super proud to see people enjoying our work.
